Open Source Contributor FAQ Guide
Need support with your environment configuration, SSH verification, track selection, or point calculations? This developer FAQ guide walks you through common troubleshooting steps in the ECSoC cohort ecosystem.
1. Ingestion Sandbox & Coding Challenges
Q: What is the sandbox coding challenge?Every technical track requires solving a coding challenge during ingestion (e.g. writing class logic or implementing validation assertions). The ingestion terminal compiles your JS/TS solution locally client-side to assert tests before unlocking submission access.
Q: Why did my sandbox tests fail?Check the ingestion terminal console output logs. Ensure syntax matches standard formats (like Capitalized headers or exact model naming). The sandbox rotates challenges periodically, so check the prompt guide.
2. SSH Key Synchronization
Q: Why is my SSH configuration handshake failing? When setting up your workspace bridge, add your public key (typically ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub or id_ed25519.pub) to the profile configurations panel. Ensure there are no surrounding whitespace characters or duplicate lines.
Q: Can I change my SSH credentials mid-cohort?Yes. Enter the new public key string in the "Workspace Configuration" card inside your profile and click "Save Configuration" to update our security gateways.
3. XP Point Allocation & Referral Ledgers
Q: When are referral points credited?Referral points (+10 XP) are instantly credited to the Campus Ambassador's wallet as soon as the referred candidate successfully submits their application. You can view the live reference log in the "Points Transaction Ledger" inside your profile portal.
Q: Can pending CAs earn referral points?Yes! CAs in audit status are fully eligible to refer candidates and earn points immediately, allowing their leaderboard ranks to be updated dynamically during the verification phase.
